CASTING | 20th April

Summer Solstice - Private Immersive Experience

PROJECT OVERVIEW

We are casting 16 performers with a background in immersive theatre for a variety of roles in a large, one-night production, for a private client. The production is themed around pagan rituals and the summer solstice, and you will be a part of the mysterious and enigmatic organisation who have created the ritual. (Think immersive Burning Man vibes with a side of spiritual wellness retreat, and a dash of rock n' roll!).

As well embodying the spirit and history of the organisation, our performers will act as guides for guests throughout the experience, and will make sure all assistance is given and all interactions are 'in character' at all times. There will be some participation during the big ceremony/ritual, and we ask characters to stay for the first part of the afterparty to get the dancefloor moving!

The perfect performer for us is creative and brilliantly improvisational, upbeat and positive, and loves the challenge of creating a world and interacting with a fun party crowd in character.

ROLES

IVO | Male, Late 60s | Playing age 48–70 Founder of the movement. Life partner to Charlie. A grizzled ex–rock photographer with unmistakable presence - charismatic, unpredictable, and magnetic. Carries a "lived-in" intensity; visionary but untethered, operating on instinct and impulse. Exists slightly outside social norms, yet when engaged, gives an almost overwhelming, laser-focused attention. Energy: Raw, enigmatic, "rock shaman."

CHARLIE | Male, Late 50s | Playing age 40–60 Co-founder. Life partner to Ivo. Former art dealer. Elegant, perceptive, and socially fluent. Possesses an innate ability to read and hold people, making them feel safe and seen. The grounding counterpart to Ivo - he shapes, contains, and enables the vision. A quiet authority with emotional intelligence and precision. Energy: Controlled, refined, quietly powerful.

JOËL | Any gender, Early 50s | Playing age 48–55 Long standing Caravan member. A spiritually inclined, offbeat production mind - the "clipboard and headset" type reimagined through a hippy lens. Deep believer in the work, balancing logistical focus with eccentric flair. Moves seamlessly between structure and improvisation. Energy: Organised chaos, playful, committed.

ROSEMARY | Female, Late 50s | Playing age 50–60 Devon farmer, neighbour. A practical, no-nonsense presence with formidable organisational skills. Carries a natural authority - "sergeant major" energy - but has undergone a personal awakening through the practice. Beneath the rigidity lies warmth and transformation. Energy: Grounded, disciplined, unexpectedly open.

CHERUB | Female, Late 20s | Playing age 28–34 Core Caravan member. A spiritual nomad moving between retreats and healing practices worldwide. Deeply attuned, intuitive, and expressive. An acupuncturist, energy healer, and artist. Acts as an emotional and spiritual anchor for newer members - sets tone and culture within the group. Energy: Ethereal, open-hearted, quietly influential.

ACOLYTES – GUIDES (8 roles) | Any gender, Late 20s–40s | Playing age 25–48 Members of The Caravan who have undergone The Leap and now facilitate others. Embodied performers with strong improvisation skills. Comfortable with movement, rhythm, and group dynamics. Singing or musical ability is a bonus. Not polished dancers - authenticity and presence are key. Energy: Grounded, instinctive, connective.

ACOLYTES – PAINTERS (3 roles) | Any gender, Late 20s–40s | Playing age 25–48 Visual artists within The Caravan. Highly skilled in body painting, with an eye for ritualistic, organic, and aesthetically striking designs. Their work is integral to the ceremonial environment and transformation of participants. Energy: Focused, artistic, ritual-driven.
